Recently we had a stall at a Family Fun Day to raise money for a very brave young boy from our karate club, Casey Elite Martial Arts. Zac, otherwise known as #zacfightingtiger, has Leukaemia so a fundraiser was held in his name to help with his treatment. This was arranged by Julie Faraone, Sensei Matt Charles and his wife Fleur and other members of this Casey Elite Martial Arts community.
It was a wonderful and very colourful fun day, with rides, stalls, food, games, a raffle and a silent auction. There were lots of different stalls, and rather than just having a stall to promote my business I decided to have a “come and try clay animation” stand where, in return for a gold coin donation to the cause, children could make their own clay figures and animate them using an iPad installed with the animation app “Stop Motion Studio”.
This was very popular, children of all ages loved coming along to our stall and getting creative. They made some really fun and colourful characters, before we put them in our little studio to take the photos for the animation. The older children took their own photos with the iPad, learning how to use the app and about how animation works. I gave them some tips on how to make their characters strong and their movements more natural, as well as a few tips on how to animate them. With the very young children I helped them to take their photos, they were very excited when we played their animations back and they saw their characters move! They could then take their creations home.
I wish to thank the families for their generosity and the children for having a go at claymation. I was really impressed by their imagination and creativity, and as you can see the results of their handiwork is pretty cool!
Altogether the community and visitors raised $11765.05 for Zac and his family. We wish Zac and his family best wishes.
